Başlangıçta, Tanrı Kediyi kendi suretinde yarattı. Ve elbette bunun iyi olduğunu gördü. İyiydi de. Ama Kedi tembeldi. Hiçbirşey yapmak istemiyordu. Bu yüzden de daha sonra, birkaç binyıl sonra, Tanrı insanı yarattı. Sırf kediye hizmet etsin diye. Kediye kayıtsızlık ve sezgi vermişti; insana da kuruntuyu, eliyle iş yapma yeteneğini ve çalışma tutkusunu verdi. İnsan dolayısıyla kaptırdı buna kendini.
Yüzyıllar boyunca, icat, üretim ve yoğun tüketim üzerine temllenen bir uygarlık kurdu. Tek ve gizli bir amacı olan bir uygarlıktı bu: Kediye huzur, barınak ve yemek sunmak. İnsan milyonlarca gereksiz, genellikle saçmasapan nesne icat ederken, tek amacı Kedinin rahatı için elzem birkaç nesne üretmekti: radyatör, minder, çanak, talaş kutusu, Breton balıkçı, halı, döşemelik kumaş, hasır sepet; belki de bir radyo, kediler müzik sevdiği için.
Ama bunların hiçbirinin farkında değildir insanlar. Çok yaşasınlar. Şükranla anılsınlar da. Öyle anıldıklarını sansınlar da. Hayırlısı neyse odur, Kedilerin kusursuz dünyasında...
